This favorite OLA tradition has evolved over 50 years to what it is today. The 54th Intramurals competition was presented in the OLA Gym on October 2, 2024. Each class came together to create a theme that incorporated costumes, props, a backdrop, a banner, and a dance. They performed in front of alumnae judges to compete for 1st place. People came from all over to see the amazing production that the students created in only 2 weeks!
Classes were allowed two weeks to develop a themed production for an entertaining 5-minute performance. The competition was judged on originality, costume, banner, props, dance, and spirit. Costumes and props were designed and produced with everyday raw materials. Students covertly practiced on weekends and after school in preparation for this main event.
“The object of Intramurals is to unite the students as a class and afford them the opportunity to work as a team. There are many elements that go into this production and all must be accomplished in two weeks. This is the most sought-after title our students compete for every year. The award for Best Class Production is undoubtedly the highest honor a class can win,” explained Mrs. Theresa St. Mary, Intramural Chairperson.
This year's class themes were:
Seventh Grade Saddles Up
Eighth Grade Explores the Jungle
The Freshmen Flintstones
Tenth Grade Turns Back Time
Juniors Journey to Neverland
Senior Secret Agents Save Christmas
The overall winner of the 54th Intramurals competition was the Sophomores!
