OLA Nominates Senior For Wendy's High School Heisman Award
Victoria Romano, a senior, is OLA's nominee for Wendy's High School Heisman Award.
For eight generations, the Heisman name has signified excellence, determination, and prestige among college football’s elite. In 1994, the next level of outstanding achievers ensconced their names into the Heisman lore when the Wendy’s High School Heisman was created.
Wendy’s High
School Heisman Award (created by Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers Restaurant)
is presented annually to one male and one female high school senior who best
exemplify the designation of scholar-citizen-athletes. To be
eligible for the award, men and woman entering their senior year of high
school must have a
high grade average, and participate in at least one of 32 sports officially
sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools. Students
are judged on their academic achievements, community and school service, and
athletic accomplishments.
One male and one female from each state and the District of Columbia will be
selected in early November, and those selectees will go on to regional and
then national selection competition.
Two
national winners, one male and one
female, will be selected from 12 national finalists, and will honored during
ESPN’s national telecast of the college Heisman Memorial Trophy on December 9.
More information on Wendy's High School Heisman Award and Program can be found at:
